The idea for GeekBidder originated in the summer of 2004. After being in development for several months, GeekBidder.com launched publicly in January of 2005 to act as a job lead service for members of the freelance community. Adopting a fairly unique philosophy that focuses more on the user’s experience than our company’s bottom line, GeekBidder aims to be the service of choice for those “Geeks” and Buyers who desire something a bit simpler than what the current industry leaders offer. GeekBidder also empowers its users to not only hire the most cost-effective workers, but also to pay them in the most mutually beneficial means. In short, you have the ability to transfer funds the way you want to, as opposed to the way that we force you too, entirely commission free. With so much freedom, it’s no wonder why GeekBidder truly is the Lighter Side of Freelance!
Its founder, David Gentzel, is no stranger to online business ventures. When he was 15, he launched The Trintium Gaming Network (trintium.com), a highly successful web hosting and advertising agency targeted toward video game and entertainment websites. The Network received great acclaim for several years, delivering well over 100 million hits to fans all over the world. In 2001, David shut the service down to focus on college. He recently graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Business Information Technology at Virginia Tech (GO HOKIES!) and will continue to pursue his own projects after graduation.
